Out of Stock this Holiday Season: Store Workers
It may be too soon to call this the Holiday Season, but it's right around the corner. Retail stores around the US are struggling to find the help they need for the upcoming busy season that comes with Christmas shopping. Many people do not want to work in the retail industry because of the inconsistency of hours and low hourly wages. Sometimes a retail employee can work 20 hours in a week, and the next week it could only be 5. This is one of the most undesirable traits of the retail industry. Major retailers are offering benefits such as a week of PTO, profit sharing, and raising their hourly wages, some up to $15 per hour. Another aspect of retail is delivery. According to this article, delivery drivers are so hard to come by that they are asking their in-store employees to help out with store deliveries.
